The Relaxation Phase Is When The Muscles Relax, Allowing The Food To Move Further Along The Tract. Peristalsis Is Essential For The Digestion Of Food And Elimination Of Waste. Without It, The Body Would Not Be Able To Move Food Through The Digestive Tract And Waste Would Not Be Eliminated.
