Wireless capsule endoscopy is a medical procedure used to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disorders. It involves swallowing a small capsule containing a tiny camera, which then transmits images of the digestive tract to a computer. The procedure is minimally invasive, allowing the doctor to view the entire digestive tract without the need for traditional endoscopic instruments. Wireless capsule endoscopy is used to diagnose a variety of diseases and conditions, such as Crohn’s disease, ulcers, and polyps. It can also detect the presence of small tumors and other abnormalities in the digestive tract. The procedure is painless and typically takes less than an hour to complete. The capsule is made of a safe, biocompatible material that passes through the digestive tract without causing any harm. The patient must fast prior to the procedure, and they will be given a mild sedative before the capsule is swallowed. Once the capsule has been swallowed, the patient is free to go about their day as normal. The images are transmitted to the computer in real time, allowing the doctor to view the entire digestive tract. After the procedure, the capsule is excreted naturally.
