Cholangiography Is A Diagnostic Technique Used To Examine The Bile Ducts And Related Structures In The Body. It Involves Injecting A Contrast Medium, Usually A Water-Soluble Dye, Into The Bile Ducts. The Dye Is Then Visualized Using Either Conventional X-Ray Imaging Or Computed Tomography (CT) Scanning. Cholangiography Can Be Performed For A Variety Of Reasons, Including Diagnosing And Monitoring Bile Duct Diseases, Such As Gallstones, Bile Duct Blockages, And Tumors. Cholangiography Typically Requires A Special Radiological Procedure Known As A Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiogram (PTC). During The Procedure, A Thin, Flexible Tube Called A Catheter Is Inserted Into The Bile Ducts Through A Small Incision In The Abdomen. Once The Catheter Is In Place, The Contrast Medium Is Injected. During The Injection, The Radiologist Takes X-Ray Images Of The Bile Ducts. The Images Produced By Cholangiography Can Provide Valuable Information About The Structure And Function Of The Bile Ducts. For Example, They Can Detect The Presence Of Gallstones, Blockages, Cysts, Or Tumors.
